I'm terribly pleased with this year's submission to the staff show. This work is in homage to the painting of the same subject by Artemesia Gentileschi. It was done using left over yarn for the flesh tones, blood, and hair, and Vanna's Choice (acquired from an Ollie's surplus store) for the clothing. Judith has lace trim on her dress. I followed no pattern, and am fairly certain that I could not duplicate it exactly, making this a one of a kind piece!
When I walk past it in the Gallery now, I frequently have to rearrange it, since it clearly attracts attention, and demands to be touched. Judith and Holofernes' head are not attached to the rest of the work (the servant is attached to Holoferne's body by only a stitch at the shoulder.) so the piece tends to move around, especially since it is located in such close proximity to classrooms during summer school!
